Drivers should be alert to the following:
•Today’s sunshine has melted some snow, so roads that appear wet will refreeze tonight when temperatures fall after sunset.
•Secondary roads (those numbered 600 and above) and neighborhood streets remain covered with frozen ice and snow which will refreeze overnight. Do not expect clear pavement until temperatures rise.
•Windy conditions are expected so powdery snow on the ground could drift and cover previously plowed roadways.
•High winds could down trees and block roads.
To report debris, downed trees or other hazards on the roadway, call VDOT’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-367-ROAD (7623).
The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, and Roanoke.
