(February 25, 2016)—Roanoke County citizens are encouraged to participate in upcoming strategic plan focus groups that will work collaboratively with Board of Supervisors members and County staff to help create a Community Strategic Plan. Goals and objectives outlined by the focus groups will be used to shape the future strategic direction of Roanoke County over the next several years.
Focus Group areas include: Community Health and Well-Being, Economic Development, Education, Public Safety, Quality of Life, and Transportation.
Focus Groups will meet four times this spring. The first series of meetings will be held the week of February 29:
Community Health and Well-Being, hosted by Supervisor Martha Hooker
February 29th: South County Library, Rooms 1&2 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Education, hosted by Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Gregory Killough
February 29th: Northside High School, Cafeteria 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Public Safety, hosted by Chairman Jason Peters
February 29th: Public Safety Building, Emergency Operations Center 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Quality of Life, hosted by Vice Chairman Joe McNamara and Supervisor Al Bedrosian
February 29th: Brambleton Center, Community Room/Gymnasium 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Economic Development, hosted by Chairman Jason Peters and Supervisor Al Bedrosian
March 3rd: South County Library, Auditorium 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Transportation, hosted by Supervisor George Assaid
March 3rd: Vinton War Memorial 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Focus Group meetings are open to the public. While attending every meeting is not mandatory, participants are encouraged to attend each of the four meetings, if possible, so that consistent citizen input is received throughout the process.
