[ARCHIVED] Don't Miss "Coffee With A Cop"

Join your neighbors and police officers for coffee and conversation._thumb.jpg

On Wednesday, April 13th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm officers from the Town of Vinton Police and the Roanoke County Police invite community members to come together at a event hosted by Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company, located at the Vinton Library 300 S. Pollard St. to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee. All community members are invited to attend.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Vinton & Roanoke County neighborhoods.
The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies, or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.
This program aligns with both departments mission to engage and unite with our community, allowing officers and community members to build relationships one cup of coffee at a time. This is the second Coffee with a Cop in Roanoke County.
