[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office to Hold Firearm Safety Courses

April 14, 2016—The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting Citizen Firearm Safety courses on Saturday, May 14 and Saturday, June 11, both from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Classes will be held at the Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office, 401 East Main Street, Salem, VA.

This course will be classroom-based and topics include firearm safety, storage, proper weapon manipulation and malfunctions, along with issues and responsibilities that come with firearm ownership.

The cost of this course is 10 canned goods or non-perishable items which will be collected at the beginning of class and donated to local charities.

To register, citizens should email Lt. Kermit Moore at KMoore@roanokecountyva.gov or call the Sheriff’s Office at (540) 283-3112 and include their name, phone number and email address. The class size is restricted to 18 people on each day, and registration will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. You do not have to be a Roanoke County citizen to attend. Additional classes will be offered in the future.
