(ROANOKE COUNTY, VA.) October 7, 2016 - The county's Office of Elections reminds Roanoke County citizens about important upcoming deadlines and dates for this year's General Election on Tuesday, November 8. In addition to the Presidential Election, this year's election will also include the offices of Member, United States House of Representatives, School Board Members for Catawba and Windsor Hills Magisterial Districts, and two Constitutional Amendments.

Voter Registration Deadline is October 17, 2016

The deadline to register to vote in this year's election is Monday, October 17. Citizens can register until 5:00 p.m. at the Office of Elections inside the Roanoke County Administration Center at 5204 Bernard Drive, mail in their registrations postmarked by October 17, or register online until 11:59 p.m. on the Virginia Department of Elections website.

Voting Absentee

If you won't be able to vote in your precinct on Election Day, you may also apply for an absentee ballot. Details on how to vote absentee can be found on the General Registrar's Vote Absentee webpage.

Find Your Polling Place With VoterView

Voters can find their Polling Place by entering their address in the VoterView Application. The mobile-enabled VoterView application, displays your Precinct Number and a map to your polling place, hours for the polling place, and links to Sample Ballots and elected officials for your district.

Virginia Photo ID Requirements

In addition, the Office of Elections reminds voters that effective June 1, 2014, Virginia law requires all voters to provide an acceptable form of photo identification (photo ID) at the polls. Voters without a photo identification will be issued a provisional ballot at the polls. For more information, see Virginia's Photo ID requirements on the Virginia Department of Elections website.
