[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Police Investigate Crash Involving County Trash Truck

Roanoke County Police were called to the 5700 block of Littlehorn Drive at 2:20 p.m. for a report that one of Roanoke County’s large trash trucks had rolled into a house at this location. The driver of the trash truck told police he got out of the truck to talk to another driver and failed to set the parking brake resulting in the accident. Police estimate that the truck rolled backward approximately 300 feet before striking the front area of the house, which is where it came to a stop. The driver of the trash truck will be charged with Failure to Set the Parking Brake. No one was injured in the incident. No one was at home when the truck hit the house. It appears the home sustained at least $25,000 in damage but this is a preliminary figure.
