(Roanoke County, VA—August 9, 2017) Roanoke County is proud to announce the release of its Open Data Portal which includes data generated and maintained by the County and now freely available for public use in an easy-to-read format.
Information that is easily accessible includes tax parcels, street centerlines, address points, and crime data. Data is grouped into eight categories: Boundaries; Community/Schools; Environmental; Infrastructure; Parks, Recreation & Tourism; Planning & Zoning; Public Safety; and Transportation. The user can also search for data using a customized search feature.
“The County is committed to sharing data with the public to increase transparency and customer service,” said David Wray, Roanoke County’s GIS manager. “This portal puts information in the hands of citizens, businesses and community organizations enabling them to explore, conduct research, develop applications, and help drive economic development.”
