[ARCHIVED] UPDATE Police Apprehend Suspect in SunTrust Bank Robbery

Armed Robbery Suspect
**Update: 8:00 p.m.**

The suspect in this morning's bank robbery was located this afternoon in a local hotel. He has been identified as Schanon C Weaver, 33, of Roanoke. He has been charged with Robbery (Code of VA 18.2-58) and Grand Larceny (Code of VA 18.2-95).

Officers recovered approximately $400 of the estimated $1700 that was taken from the bank. No weapons were found on Weaver.

The suspect was located through multiple leads from the public and the diligent efforts by Roanoke County Officers and Detectives. Thank you to the media and citizens for their assistance in getting information distributed quickly.


Police have released photos of the suspect vehicle. 

(Roanoke County, VA—May 17, 2018) Roanoke County Police responded to a report of a robbery at the SunTrust Bank on Williamson Road/Peters Creek Road in the Hollins area of Roanoke County this morning. The call came in to the Emergency Communications Center at 9:05 a.m. The suspect took an unknown amount of money and fled on foot. No weapons were displayed.

Police received information that the subject was seen getting into a darker colored or black Dodge Charger, possibly a 2005-2010 model. Roanoke County Police has released photographs of the suspect and is asking the public to help identify this person. Police are still investigating this case and anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1 or (540) 562-3265.
