(September 12, 2018) To help citizens prepare for potential flooding, Roanoke County has established a sand-bagging station in the parking lot of the Brambleton Center at 3738 Brambleton Avenue.
Citizens may bring their own bags and shovels; however, shovels are on-site and bags are available at the reception desk inside the Center during normal business hours. The Brambleton Center is open daily Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The station is first-come, first-served while supplies last. People do not have to be Roanoke County citizens to utilize this service.
Roanoke County’s Community Development department, with assistance from the County’s Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department and the Sheriff’s Office, purchased and are making available approximately 13 tons of sand from local landscaping businesses in an effort to help citizens prepare for what could be a significant flooding event.
People are urged to visit www.roanokecountyva.gov
