On September 18, 2011 at approximately 9:12 P.M. officers responded to the intersection of Challenger Ave and Cloverdale Rd for a traffic crash involving three vehicles. Initial investigation revealed that a Dodge van traveling Westbound Challenger Ave failed to stop at the red light, impacting a white Ford truck that was turning from Cloverdale Rd. The Dodge van then impacted a white Ford Fusion that was stopped on the eastbound side of Challenger Ave.
The driver of the Dodge van, Warnette Green of Roanoke, was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. Green was also charged with Reckless Driving. No other injuries were reported.
Traffic was backed up for approximately one hour while the intersection was cleared.
