[ARCHIVED] RoCo Ready Page: Easy Access to Alerts, Tips and Emergency Phone Numbers

(ROANOKE COUNTY, VA - December 7, 2018)  Roanoke County has updated it's RoCo Ready webpage with essential information ahead of the winter weather predicted for this weekend.

The RoCo Ready webpage includes one-stop access to any county-issued emergency alerts and links to preparedness information from Virginia's Department of Emergency Management (VDEM).

Roanoke County residents are reminded that our streets and roads are maintained by VDOT, including the plowing and removal of snow from public streets. Snow plowing progress can be monitored on VDOT's interactive Snow Plowing app at http://vdotplows.org/.

Residents who must travel during any snow event are reminded to check the VDOT 511 website for current road conditions features road cameras for major highways and traffic routes.

As part of Roanoke County's preparations for this weekend's predicted snow event, Police and Fire & Rescue are equipping vehicles and making plans to service emergencies as quickly as possible. Roanoke County's public safety officials remind the public to reserve calls or texts to 911 for medical, fire, or police emergencies only.
