[ARCHIVED] Passing of Police K9 Jabbo

K9 Jabbo Passes Away

(ROANOKE COUNTY - June 16, 2019) It is with great sadness that the Roanoke County Police Department announces the passing of K9 Jabbo (pronounced Yäbbō).  K9 Jabbo and his partner, Officer K. Stickley, have been a dual purpose K9 team with the police department since 2012, specializing in bomb detection and patrol tracking/apprehension. K9 Jabbo, who was 9 years old at the time of his passing, was one of the most seasoned and experienced K9s in the department and will be greatly missed.

On the evening of Saturday June 15th, Officer Stickley noticed K9 Jabbo experiencing a medical issue and brought Jabbo to an emergency veterinary hospital in Roanoke.  It was determined that Jabbo had an inoperable mass on his chest.  K9 Jabbo passed peacefully surrounded by his family.

The Roanoke County Police Department is honored to have had Jabbo as member of its family and proud to have served alongside him.  K9 Jabbo and Officer Stickley formed an incredible team helping to keep our community safe over the last 7 years and he will be greatly missed.
