[ARCHIVED] Libraries and Recreation Centers Closing Early

Due to high winds and potentially severe storms expected to move into the area this evening, Roanoke County will be closing its library and recreation facilities at 6:00 p.m. This is out of an abundance of caution for our citizens and staff so they can travel home safely.

Some reminders for this evening's impending weather:

  • Secure loose outdoor items like furniture, trash cans, sporting equipment, and fallen tree branches that may present a hazard.
  • Remove leaves and debris from drains on your property.
  • Do not attempt to drive in flowing water.
  • To report a power outage, please contact Appalachian Power at 1-800-956-4237.
  • Report road hazards (blocked roads, etc.) directly to VDOT at 1-800-367-7623 or use the MyVDOT online form.
  • Calls or texts to 911 should be reserved for medical, fire, or police emergency situations only.
