Due to high winds and potentially severe storms expected to move into the area this evening, Roanoke County will be closing its library and recreation facilities at 6:00 p.m. This is out of an abundance of caution for our citizens and staff so they can travel home safely.
Some reminders for this evening's impending weather:
- Secure loose outdoor items like furniture, trash cans, sporting equipment, and fallen tree branches that may present a hazard.
- Remove leaves and debris from drains on your property.
- Do not attempt to drive in flowing water.
- To report a power outage, please contact Appalachian Power at 1-800-956-4237.
- Report road hazards (blocked roads, etc.) directly to VDOT at 1-800-367-7623 or use the MyVDOT online form.
- Calls or texts to 911 should be reserved for medical, fire, or police emergency situations only.
