[ARCHIVED] House Fire Displaces Family of Four

Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews were called to the 5600 block of Prunty Drive just before 7 p.m. for a reported structure fire.

When firefighters arrived they found a single story wood framed structure with smoke showing from the eaves. It took volunteer and career firefighters from the Fort Lewis and Masons Cove stations about 15 minutes to get the flames under control. The fire was contained mostly to the kitchen area of the home and the attic area above the kitchen.

Elliston crews were called to assist with fire suppression efforts.

The family of four who lived in the home was not home at the time of the fire. They are displaced and the Red Cross is providing assistance.

Fire Investigators are on scene trying to determine what caused the fire.
