[ARCHIVED] New Traffic Signal to Be Activated at Route 220 Intersection with Old Rocky Mount Road

A new signal will be activated at the intersection of Route 220 and Old Rocky Mount Road in Roanoke. The signal is located south of Route 419 and north of Clear Brook.

To alert drivers to the upcoming signal activation, it will be set to flashing yellow on Monday, Oct. 24 sometime in the late morning. On Monday morning, short-term lane closures will be in place at this intersection while signal crews uncover the new signal heads and set it to flashing yellow.

The new signal will remain in flashing yellow mode for 24 hours before becoming fully operational on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Signs are in place on Route 220 to alert drivers to the new signal. A message board also will be used to notify drivers of this change in traffic patterns. Drivers are advised to use caution.
