[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Police Investigate Traffic Crash On West Main St - Update

A motor vehicle crash resulting in serious injuries occurred on Thursday, 12/08/2011 at approximately 5:22 pm. The location of the crash was on West Main Street at the intersection of Glenvar Heights Blvd. A 1999 International straight truck driven by 50-year-old Dennis Beheler of Daleville, VA was traveling North on West Main Street in the right hand lane. The International truck then switched lanes to the left hand lane because of construction on the shoulder up ahead. An unknown vehicle then cut off the International truck causing the driver to steer to the left and end up in the South bound lane of West Main Street. The International truck then struck a guardrail in the opposite lane and subsequently struck a 2000 Nissan Xterra that was stopped at a stop sign on Glenvar Heights Blvd. The driver and passenger of the Nissan Xterra were both transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Xterra has been identified as 69-year-old Edward Siler. He has since been released from the hospital. Siler’s wife, 63-year-old Janice Siler, remains hospitalized at this time with serious injuries. The Silers live in the Glenvar area of Roanoke County. The driver of the International truck was not injured. One lane of West Main Street was blocked for approximately four hours following the accident. Witnesses on scene describe the suspect vehicle as a dark, maybe maroon, Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am driven by a white female. The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. If anybody has any information leading to the identification of the suspect, please call the Roanoke County Police Department’s non-emergency number at 540-562-3265
