Library Services Director Recruitment Spotlight

The Director of Library Services will provide executive leadership and management over the public library system in accordance with the strategic direction established by County Administration and the Board of Supervisors. Work involves significant community engagement and public involvement with patrons, volunteers, educators, students, and other diverse members of the public to ensure that the library system is an integral part of life-long learning in the community.

The new Director must be able to work collaboratively with the Library Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Library nonprofit organization, and regional partners within the Roanoke Valley Libraries system. Knowledge and expertise is required in the areas of standards for public libraries according to the Library of Virginia, library business processes and policy, management and development of staff and volunteers, budget formulation and execution, implementation and use of new media, organizational development, and community engagement.
