[ARCHIVED] Police Officer Recognized as Roanoke County Officer of the Month by the Roanoke Regional Chamber

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA (December 16, 2011) — The Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce has selected Police Officer D. Bruch as the organization’s “Roanoke County Officer of the Month” for September/October.

On October 4, Officer Bruch was dispatched to a 911 hang-up call on Merriman Road. When he arrived, Officer Bruch made contact with a male inside the residence. Officer Bruch immediately noticed the male subject was sweating profusely and had a white substance in and around his nose.

Based on his experience and training, Officer Bruch asked for permission to search the home and was given consent. A search of the man’s bedroom revealed 379.7 grams of heroin split into 936 bags that had been placed in three boxes. The heroin had an approximate value of $18,000. Officer Bruch also recovered $914 in cash.

Officer Bruch did an outstanding job that day. His tenacity in conducting a thorough investigation led to the arrest of a major heroin distributor in the Roanoke area.
