On December 20, 2011, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Roanoke County Police Department received numerous reports of power being out in the areas of Plantation Road, Williamson Road and Peters Creek Road.
AEP was contacted and at about 2:48 a.m. AEP contacted the Roanoke County Police Department and advised that somebody had entered the Burlington Heights Substation on Angel Lane and had stolen a portion of wire from one of the transformers. It was this theft of wire that caused the power outage.
All power was restored at about 4:45 a.m. Roanoke County Police have no suspects at this time, and anyone with information is asked to call the department at (540) 562-3265.
