McAfee Shuttle Spotlight Canceled April 1

(ROANOKE COUNTY, VA – March 31, 2023)   The McAfee Knob Trailhead Shuttle has been canceled for Saturday, April 1, 2023, due to high wind warnings in effect for Saturday through early Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a High Wind Warning and Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area from 8:00 AM, Saturday, April 1 through 4:00 AM, Sunday, April 2. Winds are expected to reach 35 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph possible. Damaging winds are expected to blow down trees and limbs, making outdoor hiking dangerous.

Power lines and electrical service may also be affected and scattered power outages are likely in our area, with widespread power outages possible. Travel is also anticipated to be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. For more information about the impending High Wind Warning, see the National Weather Service Forecast.
