ROANOKE COUNTY, VA – March 31, 2023) The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a High Wind Warning and Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area from 8:00 AM, Saturday, April 1 through 4:00 AM, Sunday, April 2. Winds are expected to reach 35 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph possible.
Residents are encouraged to secure any loose items outdoors that may cause injury or damage if they are carried by the wind.
Power lines and electrical service may also be affected and scattered power outages are likely in our area, with widespread power outages possible. Travel is also anticipated to be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Roanoke County reminds residents to be aware of weather warnings when traveling or participating in outdoor activities. Make certain mobile phones and other devices are fully charged in case of a power outage.
