[ARCHIVED] Crews Working to Contain Brush Fire in Roanoke County

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA (March 16, 2012) – Crews are working to contain a 40 to 50 acre brush fire in Roanoke County. The fire is burning on the Fort Lewis side of Poor Mountain in an area with steep terrain.

Approximately 20 firefighters from Roanoke County are at the scene. The Virginia Department of Forestry is also assisting with a dozer and helicopter. The helicopter is being used to drop water from Spring Hollow Reservoir onto the fire.

Right now, no homes are threatened and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is not known.
