Roanoke County’s solid waste crews will pick up brush only on Saturday, July 7 for residents on the County’s “A-Week” trash collection schedule. On Monday, Tuesday, and part of the July 4 holiday, solid waste personnel picked up more than 225 tons of brush but it doesn’t appear the County will be able to get to every home on the “A-Week” schedule by the end of the week.
“We are now collecting brush in the West Salem area, which was one of the hardest hit areas of Roanoke County. Our crews are working overtime and we’re asking people to be patient with us. We will get to everyone just as soon as possible,” said General Services Director Anne Marie Green. Crews will pick up where they left off on Monday and hope to begin collecting brush from residents on the “B-Week” schedule by Tuesday or Wednesday. Please note that the delay only impacts the collection of brush. Solid waste crews are emptying garbage cans and picking up bulk on schedule.
