Beginning, Friday, July 27, at 11 p.m., traffic on Riverland Road in Roanoke will be detoured onto newly paved section of roadway for several months.
As part of this change, traffic will be routed into a new pattern requiring a three-way stop at the intersection of Riverland Road, Mount Pleasant Boulevard and Bennington Street. The detour is needed for construction crews to realign the intersection of Riverland Road and Garden City Boulevard and perform earthwork on the project.
Message boards will be in place to alert drivers to delays. Drivers should be alert to this traffic pattern change and use caution in this work zone.
In addition, a temporary traffic signal has been installed at the entrance to Roanoke City’s Fire Station #11 on Mount Pleasant Boulevard. This signal will only be activated when emergency response vehicles need to respond and access Riverland Road. It will not constantly regulate traffic.
