[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Police Identify Female Suspect with Public’s Help

The Roanoke County Police Department wants to thank the public for helping to identify a female suspected of cashing stolen checks at an area business.

The PD received multiple calls from the public last week shortly after the suspect’s photo was released to the media.

The calls helped Officer A. Grubb identify the woman as 33-year-old Teresa Marie Madera of Roanoke.

Madera has since been charged by Roanoke County Police with four counts of forgery and uttering, which are felonies. She is currently free on bond.

Police say Madera cashed two stolen checks for an electric heater and power tool kit at the Northwest Hardware on Brambleton Ave. in February. The checks she wrote totaled nearly $800. Later in the day, she attempted to cash a third stolen check at the same business for another tool set but was unsuccessful. Police have determined that the checks Madera is suspected of writing were stolen.
