[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Police Prepare for August 22 Paul Ryan Visit

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (August 21, 2012) -- The Roanoke County Police Department is working with the U.S. Secret Service to provide security for GOP Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s visit to the Roanoke region on Wednesday August 22, 2012.

The event is being held at Northwest Hardware 3647 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, VA. Due to extremely limited parking at the event, attendees will need to take the shuttle which is being operated from the west corner of Tanglewood Mall (near the intersection of Ogden and Electric Roads) to the event on Brambleton.

For security purposes and to streamline access, persons wishing to attend will need to obtain a ticket for admission at: http://mi.tt/RxCRDD

Although traffic will remain open on Brambleton Avenue, the event is expected to impact the normal traffic patterns. Persons and motorists not involved with the event are encouraged to either avoid the area or take alternate routes. For patrons of the businesses along the Brambleton Avenue corridor, those operations have indicated they will maintain their normal hours of operations.

Doors Open at 7:00 AM and the event begins: 8:45 AM

All attendees will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible. No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids, or signs will be allowed in the venue. Cameras are permitted. Increased staffing is assigned to ensure the safe and orderly movement of all in attendance.
