Roanoke County Police Identify Suspect with Public’s Help
• Incident: Credit Card Theft and Credit Card Fraud
• Date of Incident: July 24, 2012
• Time of Incident: Between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
• Location of Incident: Bojangles restaurant on Brambleton Ave.
• Additional Remarks:
A tip from the public has helped Roanoke County police identify and arrest a local woman for stealing another woman’s wallet and subsequently using the victim’s credit card at two Roanoke County businesses.
The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Casey C. Flint of Franklin County. Flint has been charged with credit card theft, credit card fraud, and petit larceny. Flint was arrested late last week.
The theft of the wallet occurred on July 24 at the Bojangles restaurant on Brambleton Avenue sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The crime occurred when the victim left her purse unattended. Police say Flint walked over to the woman’s purse and retrieved a wallet from the victim’s handbag. Police say Flint then walked away, went through the wallet, and took items from it including the victim’s credit card. After Flint went through the wallet, police say she approached the cash register and informed an employee that she’d found it in the bathroom.
Surveillance video from the restaurant shows Flint handing the wallet over to the employee at the cash register. The stolen credit card was subsequently used at two businesses in the vicinity of Brambleton Ave.
