[ARCHIVED] Be Prepared for Severe Weather from Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is expected to affect Virginia over the weekend and early next week and Governor Bob McDonnell has declared a State of Emergency in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.

For those of us in Western Virginia, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management> advises a possible expectation of high wind gusts, snow fall and colder temperatures. Stay tuned to local TV and radio stations for instructions and information on weather and make sure your family members, friends and neighbors are prepared.

You may also dial 211 for general information about the storm.

Visit http://www.vaemergency.gov/readyvirginia/getakit  for a list of suggested supplies to stock an emergency kit.
