Good morning,

Roanoke County Police are investigating a crash that occurred this morning involving a car and school bus. The incident occurred on Hunting Hills Drive just north of the Country Club.

We are still gathering information but this is what we can tell you at this time. There were no serious injuries involving the children or driver of the bus. A student and a bus aid were transported to the hospital for what appeared to be non-serious injuries.

The female driver of the car that collided with the bus was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger in the car was taken to the hospital for what appeared to be serious injuries. Police at the scene say the car (a mid-size four-door vehicle) struck the front of the school bus.

The road will be closed for some time as police investigate the crash. Police have requested help from VDOT to manage traffic in the area.

More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
