The blasting will take place outside of peak traffic times and every effort will be made to minimize traffic disruptions. Traffic in the vicinity of the blasting will need to be stopped for several minutes on Route 221, along adjacent roadways and at private entrances.
The blasting is needed due to a large rock formation found while crews were installing a drainage ditch. The rock could not be broken down with heavy equipment.
Signs and message boards will be in place to alert drivers to these traffic delays. Drivers should watch for flaggers and expect short-term delays.
