The Crime Prevention Office creates and maintains lines of communication between the Police Department and citizens of Roanoke County through a variety of different programs.

The Neighborhood Watch program helps Roanoke County residents become active participants in reducing crime.
Public Safety Academy
A Public Safety Academy is held for citizens to learn more about the Police Department, Fire Department, and Sheriffs Department and their functions.
Project Lifesaver
The Roanoke County Police Department is a part of "Project Lifesaver," a partnership between local law enforcement and families of Alzheimer's disease and other related disorders such as Down Syndrome and Autism. Specially trained officers respond to reports of missing program participants and use electronic technology to assist in locating the victim in a minimal amount of time.
