Reimagine 419

Reimagine 419

The Route 419 area near Tanglewood is a large and important commercial center for Roanoke County. It has evolved and grown to serve the needs of businesses and residents for many years, but we see even greater potential in the future. To achieve this, Roanoke County is re-imagining this stretch of 419 as a distinct and vibrant new destination that improves traffic as well as expands transportation options. We want to enhance connections within the area and help its shops and restaurants attract even more business from either side of the County line.

Kick-Off Visioning Event
The County needs your thoughts and ideas about the stores, services and amenities that would maximize this area’s potential. A Kick-Off Visioning Event will be held at the Holiday Inn Tanglewood on September 15th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Kick-Off Visioning Event is one of many opportunities for the public to comment over the next six months as the Route 419 Town Center Plan is developed.

Other public outreach opportunities include:
  • Stakeholder interviews
  • Surveys (digital and paper)
  • mySidewalk (an interactive webpage for the Route 419 Town Center Plan)
  • A three-day Design Charrette
  • Community Meetings
  • Planning Nights at local businesses

Study Area
The Study Area encompasses approximately 400 acres along Route 419 from Route 220 to the railroad trestle past Starkey Road.
