Glenvar Center

Overview

The County has initiated a Glenvar Center Plan, a planning study that will examine the land use, housing, community facilities, transportation, and natural and cultural resources of the Glenvar area that is bounded by the City of Salem, the Roanoke River, Fort Lewis Church Road and Interstate 81.

This highly trafficked and visible corridor has numerous opportunities for redevelopment and growing industries in the region. The development of a Glenvar Center Plan will provide recommendations intended to promote economic development and enhance quality of life for residents and employees within the study area over the next 10-15 years.

Staff will analyze survey results and develop potential recommendations, which will be presented for comment at a second round of community meetings, to be held in Fall 2025.
